Let’s Talk Potty Pads

(and why I have finally found my forever brand)

Anyone with (or without) a pet may agree that having a four-legged friend at home just might be the key to happiness. Or at least it’s sure to bring you an abundance of smiles, cuddles, and love. But the one thing many pet owners have a harder time loving, is the constant clean-up of… accidents.

Let’s talk potty pads. As much as we love the convenience of having a dedicated spot in the house where our little ones can relieve themselves, it’s almost certain that most of us share the same perspective: “Potty pads are icky.”

I’m here today to tell you that this statement is no longer true, my friends, for I have discovered the holy grail of potty pads. Believe it or not, I have found a pee/training/liner pad that not only absorbs more liquid than I’ve ever seen absorbed by another pad, but that I can leave down longer than for just one single use. In fact, I have had the same pad down for a few days now, and my little Coco has used it over 5 times already! (Granted, she is small with an equally small bladder, but the pad still proves much more reliable than others I’ve used in the past.) She also loves how thick the pad is so it’s soft and comfy for her little paws.

The pads are made by Kocho, a Japanese manufacturer that has been making absorbent pads (female, baby, adult, and pet) for over 50 years. This company has now developed a new pet brand for the US market called (simply) Kocho, that are made in Japan. Kocho’s Ultra-Absorbent Pet Pad blows any other potty pad out of the water in all categories, and I am happy to declare that I will probably never use another type of pad moving forward.

Here is why Kocho pads are the best:

· Ultra-absorbent: The liquid is almost immediately absorbed by the quadruple layers, leaving both the pad and pet paws dry (which protects floors from unwanted moisture!)

· Liquid turns to gel: Fillers in the pad mix with liquids to create a gel-like material inside, trapping and solidifying the liquid in one spot. (This prevents leaking!)

· Odor eating: Odors are eliminated upon contact by the Activated Carbon filler (keeping homes fresh and odor-free!)

· Attractive: The pad’s top layer is a quilted light gray fabric lined with white around the edges and underneath. (Certainly not the eye-sore we are used to seeing!)

Since the pads themselves are not bad looking, I am happy to leave them around my home, and not ashamed to leave them down when company comes over. I catch myself even using descriptive words like “chic” and “modern”, which are certainly not words typically associated with bathroom language.

The best part about these pads? I can trust that there will be no leaks, spills, or leftover liquid for me to mop up after use. And when it does come time to replace the pad? I can simply roll it up (similar to a baby diaper) and throw it in the trash knowing that the liquids are trapped forever by a gel-like substance inside of the pad.

Kocho certainly has my vote for Best Potty Pad of the Year, and will likely keep my loyalty for years to come.
